Installation Manager Fails to Add a Transform File
Posted on October 29th, 2008
Problem Definition
Microsoft Transform (MST) files cannot be imported by Citrix Installation Manager. The following error message is received:
“Installation Manager: Failed to add package – Unspecified Error”
Adding just the package (msi) without the transform (mst) is okay.
The mst transform is know to be working and can be used to install the appliction without any errors.
Environment
• Windows 2003 x64 Standard Edition Server SP2
• Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 HRP2
Event Viewer
1. Checked the Event log of the Windows server:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: InstallationManager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 3601
Description: Error: Function failed during execution. , Details:MsiDatabaseCommit
Resolution
Caution! This fix requires you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.
Citrix Systems, Inc. development has added a registry entry to disable transform integrity verification.
To bypass the error checking during package add, create a value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\IMS\2.0: DWORD IgnoreTransformErrors = 1
The system will generate a warning message in the EventLog:
Message: Transform error checking has been disabled when adding a new package. Details:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Citrix\\IMS\\2.0: DWORD IgnoreTransformErrors is set to 1.

Passthough Authentication with .ica files
Posted on October 8th, 2008
In the senario where users launch a Citrix desktop session and then passthrough to another published application by means of an .ica file, the default configuration means that the user will be prompted for their logon credentials again.
There is a way to change this and passthrough their details.
The .ica file must include the following lines:
UseLocalUserAndPassword=On
AutoLogonAllowed=On
The appsrv.ini must include the following entry:
EnableSSOnThruICAFile=On
Ensure that a modified appserv.ini file gets copied to the users profile on logon.

The Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 Installation Effectively Hangs
Posted on September 4th, 2008

I have come across this problem and this hotfix definitely fixes it.
Symptoms
In some environments where multiple domains and multiple trusts exist, the installation of Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 appears to hang when the “Citrix is Installing Product Components” message is displayed.
The installation completes successfully if left for a period of 15 hours or more.

Disappearing taskbar in Citrix session after locking local workstation
Posted on August 28th, 2008
Problem
Problem discovered on:
- Windows 2003 R2 x64 Standard Edition
- Citrix XenApp 4.5 Hotfix Rollup Pack R02
I discovered a problem where a Citrix session is opened to a published desktop running the software levels detailed above. The session can be run as full screen or smaller. When the local client workstation is locked and subsequently unlocked, the start button and taskbar are completely missing.
The problem only occurs with multiple monitors enabled on the client workstation. With multiple monitors disabled, the problem doesn’t appear.
